Jalal Hamad is a retail strategy and transformation leader with more than 20 years at The Home Depot (NYSE: HD). With perspective rooted in the realities of field operations—having risen from a frontline Associate in the company’s Canadian stores—he specializes in in-store merchandising and digital innovation, leading a large and diverse organization that balances art and science to drive sales, improve productivity, enable speed and create value for customers, shareholders, The Home Depot and its 400,000-plus Associates.
Internationally recognized for his expertise on the intersection of experiential retail solutions, digital business, consumer behavior and merchandising innovation, Jalal currently serves as senior director of in-store experience, bringing along his expertise from positions in store operations, merchandising, space planning, procurement and new concept development.
He is the strategic leader for The Home Depot’s pilot “Store of the Future” initiative, resulting in the development and implementation of the $5B Strategic Store Investment program. And most recently, Jalal led the COVID-19 in-store response efforts, implementing an innovative protective shield system that is now used by small businesses and institutions across the nation, in-store communications for curbside pickup and expanded Buy Online, Pickup in Store (BOPIS) solutions.
